Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation supports local civil society organizations and their staff by providing them with easy access to technology resources. This is made possible through the Foundation’s partnership with TechSoup, a San Francisco-based technology donation organization.
Techsoup is a global network of civil society organizations working to improve the quality of work of organized civil society by providing them with access to resources – technology solutions and skills.
The platform provides software donations, discounts on software purchases, access to hardware products, validation for receiving financial donations, knowledge and skills to enhance the competencies of CSO team members on topics related to technology and its effective use, and more. This support frees up valuable resources for CSOs, and the savings can be invested in the important causes they work on.
To achieve its mission, the network has partners in 70 countries around the world. WCIF operates for the purposes of the network as TechSoup Bulgaria.
Through TechSoup Bulgaria, we provide technology donations to civic organizations working for public benefit, community centers and public libraries. TechSoup Bulgaria supports CSOs by investing in their administrative capacity, improving the quality of their work and facilitating their communications.
The most important benefit of the platform is the ability for organizations to reduce their technology products’ costs, gain resources to communicate their missions, goals and activities, and invest the savings in working toward their causes.
TechSoup Bulgaria was launched in 2009. Since then:
- 2,042 NGOs, community centers and public libraries have been validated on the platform.
- 5,547 products have been distributed at a market price of €3,529,019.
- More than €2,798,350 have been saved and distributed to other public causes.
