More about the competition

From October 1, the competition for the ninth edition of “You and Lidl” is open. The program supports projects of public value in five areas:

  • #BeGreen – for environmental protection.
  • #BeLocal – for culture, art and historical heritage.
  • #BeActive – for an active lifestyle and civic activism.
  • #BeFair – for social equality and inclusion.
  • #BeVocal – for media and journalistic projects.

In four of the areas – #BeGreen, #BeLocal, #BeActive and #BeFair – projects can receive funding of up to 10,000 euros. For #BeVocal, up to 5,000 euros are provided for media projects and up to 2,000 euros for journalistic projects. Youth projects can apply for funding of up to 2,000 euros.

This year’s edition also places a special emphasis on the prevention of addictions and violence among young people under the motto “Give them direction before the street does it!” In each of the five directions, as well as among the youth projects, one project on this topic will be awarded with an additional grant of 1000 euros.

Why is it worth taking the first step?

Since 2017, You & Lidl has been proving that civic ideas can turn into meaningful results. So far, the initiative has donated over 1 million euros, supported 240 civic projects in 89 settlements and reached over 3.5 million people through them.

Behind these numbers are people who have recognized a need in their community and found a way to respond to it. The next supported idea could be yours.

The application is entirely online through the official website of “You and Lidl”, and the deadline is October 31, 2026.

Save the date October 19 at 4:30 p.m. and register for the webinar here.

“You and Lidl” is the largest socially responsible initiative of Lidl Bulgaria and is implemented in partnership with the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF), the Bulgarian Donors’ Forum (BDF) and the Association of European Journalists – Bulgaria (AEJ-Bulgaria).
