More than 20 representatives of civil society organizations and parent groups took part in the first training under the “Parenthood 2.0, More than Care” program, which took place on February 5 and 6 in Sofia. The event marked the beginning of a purposeful process for building active parent communities that work to prevent the separation of children and their families.
Representatives of 11 civil society organizations and one informal parent group participated in the training, supported by the two competitions of the program. They work both nationally and locally, applying sustainable approaches to strengthening the family and developing parental capacity. Their focus is on parents facing serious challenges – single and large parents, families in poverty, parents of children with disabilities, representatives of ethnic minorities and families affected by violence.

The two-day training focused on the development of parental leadership, community mobilization and the inclusion of vulnerable parents. Within eight interactive sessions, the participants received practical tools for working with groups, exchanged real cases from their practice and built a network of like-minded people, united by the desire to prevent the separation of children and families.
Training program
The Parenting 2.0, More Than Care Program builds on financial support through targeted investments in increasing the capacity of participants and building sustainable local communities. The first training laid the foundations for shared understanding, cooperation and a common vision between organizations, and the upcoming training modules will build on the already acquired knowledge and skills.
