The Social Makerspace in Varna opened its doors for future inventors

Varna has become a hub for small and big innovators through the project “Social Makerspace – a place for small and big inventors”, implemented by the Social Teahouse Foundation. The project covered 30 children and young people. Some of the participants are at-risk youth with whom the organization works actively.

Within the framework of the project, trainings were held that inspired the participants to discover new horizons in the world of technology.

Open doors for new inventors

The 3D printing training enabled some of the group to go deeper into areas such as microcontroller coding. This is evidenced by the feedback received from two young people from the “Mother Teresa” Family Type Accommodation Centre who said, “The 3D printing training was the best part of our stay in Varna. We hope to deepen our knowledge on the subject.”

The laser engraving sessions provided a new insight into technology, developing the artistic talents of children and young people.

New skills and future prospects

Thanks to the opportunity, the participants acquired new technical skills in 3D printing, laser engraving and coding. At the same time, the activities encouraged their creative thinking and stimulated teamwork. Along with practical knowledge, the children and young people learned how new technologies can facilitate our everyday lives in the future, but also be a prospect for professional realization.

The training also welcomed parents of the children, creating a shared environment and strengthening the child-parent relationship. Another additional effect of the initiative is that it attracted teachers from local schools willing to contribute to the development of young people in town.

The project “Social Makerspace – a place for small and big inventors” is one of the 8 projects implemented within the Pepcolandia program in 2024.
