On September 16, the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation celebrated its 25th anniversary with the people who have been part of its path over the years.
Friends, partners, donors, representatives of civil society organizations and people with whom we have worked and continue to work gathered in Sofia for a shared holiday – with many meetings, conversations, memories and stories.
For 25 years now, we have been connecting good people – people with ideas, people with causes, people who are ready to give time, knowledge, resources and trust to make something meaningful happen around them. Some have been with us almost from the very beginning, others we met along the way. We have implemented an initiative with some, with others we have been connected by years of joint work.
They were the center of the evening – the people with whom we have been writing the history of WCIF for 25 years.
“When I look around here, I see something much more important than the numbers – the people with whom these 25 years have happened,” said WCIF Executive Director Iliana Nikolova at the opening of the evening.
On the occasion of the anniversary, WCIF offered special thanks to partners with whom it shares an important part of its journey – Open Society Institute – Sofia for the long-standing partnership in the civil sector, SAP Bulgaria for the long-standing business partnership, Lidl Bulgaria for the partnership with a long-term footprint and Phoenix Pharma for the partnership in support of health education.
There was also a thank you, which was out of the preliminary scenario. The WCIF team surprised the Executive Director Iliana Nikolova with a special plaque – for the person who has been at the helm of the foundation since its inception.
The evening was mostly an occasion to be together. To meet again with people with whom we have shared ideas and causes, to remember moments from the past years and to thank for the trust, without which many of them would not have happened. And the photo booth captured some of the smiles, meetings and emotions from the evening.
Because behind 25 years of WCIF there are thousands of initiatives, meetings and partnerships. But above all, there are people.
We have been connecting good people for 25 years. We have been writing this story together for 25 years.
