The name fund „Valya Krushkina“ was established on the 1-st of September 2012 as part of the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation.

Representatives of various Bulgarian media compete for the prize, which is indicative of the fact that most journalists in the country want to support the cause of fair and objective journalism that is tolerant and committed to social and community problems and problems.

The purpose of the awards is to reward examples of responsible and objective journalism. The contest is open to representatives of print and electronic media, Internet sites and blogs and representatives of civic journalism.

The prizes have financial equivalents: 1000 BGN For the big prize, chosen directly by the jury, and the other four prizes are 500 BGN. The prize money is provided by private donors.
