Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF) is an organization registered as non-profit a legal entity in the City Court of Sofia and has a registration as an organization in public benefit in the Register of the Ministry of Justice, number 003/16.11.2001. The Foundation was established in 2001. Its inception was inspired after four years of work on the Charity Know How Program "Knowledge, success, change". The team implementing the program in Bulgaria decided to create a Bulgarian organization that would continue developing new opportunities for work with civic groups and organizations in the country. The founders are three, all representatives of the partnering organizations that have worked on implementing the program: Richard Cunningham, Charity Know How program for Bulgaria, Elitza Barakova, Bulgarian Charities Aid Foundation and Regina Indzheva, Women's Alliance for Development,

The foundation is governed by the Board of Trustees and the Executive Director.

People who have been Trustees so far are: Georgi Genchev, Tatyana Kovacheva, Tatyana Arsova, Veselina Stoyanova-Anastasova, Valeri Manchev.
