More about the “PHOENIX for the Next Generation of Healthier Bulgarians” Program
Statistics on the health of children in Bulgaria are alarming – high levels of obesity, reduced physical activity, unbalanced diet and increasing cases of emotional and health problems.
The “PHOENIX for the Next Generation of Healthier Bulgarians” program is a concrete and long-term response to these challenges. It aims to promote a healthier lifestyle among children through educational activities, hands-on training and engagement of the entire school community.
The program is implemented by the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF) with the support of PHOENIX Pharma and in partnership with the Parents Association.
In its first edition, 116 primary teachers from 66 schools in 42 settlements in the country were supported. Nearly 2400 children actively participated, learned how to take care of their bodies and emotions and took their first steps towards a healthier lifestyle. Parents also participated through workshops and information resources that encouraged them to support their children in this process.
The program contributed not only to increasing the knowledge and skills of the participants, but also to strengthening the bond between students, teachers, parents and the entire school community.
