
On July 10, 2026 at 5:00 p.m ., registration for the in-person information meeting for the Current Competition for Small Projects under the EEA Civil Society Fund, which will be held on July 15, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at SOHO (4 Iskar Street), Sofia, will be closed. Sofia.
Initially, registration was scheduled until July 14, 2026, 17:00, but due to the filling of the capacity of the hall, it will be terminated in advance.
Anyone wishing to learn more about the application conditions, eligible activities, the method of funding and the process of submitting project proposals through the EGRANT system can register for the online information meeting, which will be held on July 16, 2026 at 16:00 .
By the end of July, the WCIF will set a schedule of meetings to answer questions related to the application for the competition in real time.
In September, more face-to-face information meetings will be organized to help potential candidates. Additional information about the dates and venues will be published in due time on the WCIF website and on the website of the EEA Civil Society Fund in Bulgaria.
We remind you that if there is interest, additional information meetings can be organized on the ground at the invitation of a civil organization that is ready to host such an event, with the guaranteed participation of at least 10 participating organizations.
The information meetings are intended for organizations wishing to apply for the Current Competition for Small Projects, part of the EEA Civil Society Fund in Bulgaria. The competition starts on 30 June 2026 and aims to contribute to the development of a vibrant and sustainable civil society that protects democracy, the rule of law and human rights.
The competition introduces a new funding model that provides more predictable and sustainable support for civil society organisations. Instead of a one-time call, project proposals will be accepted on an ongoing basis in six-month sessions, divided into two periods. This enables organisations to prepare their ideas and apply at an appropriate time within the application period.
The first deadline for submission of project proposals is September 29, 2026, 23:59 All organizations planning to apply can use the information meetings to familiarize themselves with the terms of the competition, funding opportunities and the application process.

The EEA Civil Society Fund in Bulgaria is worth over EUR 23 million and is fully financed by Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA) and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. It represents the largest commitment made to date by donor countries to civil society in the country. It is expected that by the end of 2031 the fund will support more than 300 initiatives of civil society organizations.
The operator of the EEA Civil Society Fund in Bulgaria is a consortium of civil society organizations, led by the Open Society Institute – Sofia, with the participation of the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation, the Trust for Social Achievement Foundation and Civil Society Norway (Frivillighet Norge). An ongoing competition for small projects is managed by the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation.
