The educational card game “For the Next Generation of Healthier Bulgarians” will help students from the primary stage to acquire knowledge and skills for a healthy and balanced lifestyle in a fun and interactive way. Through experience, teamwork, and a playful approach, play encourages children to learn while having fun and make what they have learned part of their daily lives.
The game is aimed at students from 1. up to 4. grade and covers topics such as healthy eating, physical activity, personal hygiene, managing emotions, balancing screen time and taking care of yourself and others. Through game challenges and joint tasks, children develop healthy decision-making skills and build positive habits.
The educational game has been developed as a supplement to the program “PHOENIX for the Next Generation of Healthier Bulgarians”, which is implemented by the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF) in partnership with the Parents Association and with the support of PHOENIX in Bulgaria.
The creation of the card game is part of the upgrade of the methodological guide “PHOENIX for the next generation of healthier Bulgarians”. Following the successful first edition of the program and positive feedback from teachers, students and parents, new practical tools were developed at the beginning of 2026 to turn health knowledge into real skills and sustainable habits.
The program “PHOENIX for the Next Generation of Healthier Bulgarians” was created in response to the alarming data on the health status of Bulgarian children related to overweight, insufficient physical activity and unbalanced nutrition. In the 2024/2025 school year, the first edition of the initiative covered 116 teachers from 66 schools in 42 settlements in the country, and nearly 2400 students acquired knowledge and skills for a healthier lifestyle. The second edition of the program will reach over 2000 students from 1. up to 4. by expanding the scope of the initiative and strengthening the participation of school communities and families in building healthy habits among children.
